Frozen Friday: T.G.I.Friday's - Sizzling Chicken Fajitas

T.G.I.Friday's Sizzling Chicken Fajitas frozen meal features a ready-to-assemble tray of grilled white meat chicken, seasoned strips of bell peppers and onions with a side of cheesy rice and 3 mini-flour tortillas for wrapping.

It retails for around $4.29 which means you're looking at the $2 to $3 range on sale.

There were slightly too many starches in this one. I was expecting the rice to be slightly salty but it was more lightly seasoned, a bit greasy, and somewhat cheesy (the cheese doesn't really add much to the rice though). There's corn and black beans for welcome flavor and texture. It actually goes well with the chicken but then there's still the tortillas to use up...
Three flour tortillas were just enough to use up with the chicken, bell peppers, and onions given but doing that leaves you with wanting something salty to go with the rice. The tortillas can stick together as you heat them up, so you might want to separate them with paper towels beforehand.
The chicken actually looks pretty good with decent grill marks. It was tender, juicy, and seasoned a fair bit. The veggies were limp and overcooked but also seasoned.

So I tried putting the rice with the chicken and vegetables inside a tortilla but it ended up being too starchy with unbalanced flavor leaning toward the bland side.
I probably could have carefully portioned the chicken between the rice and tortillas, but that's such a pain.

While a bit unbalanced, T.G.I.Friday's Sizzling Chicken Fajitas frozen meal was still pretty good as far as the individual flavors go; the mushy peppers and onions being the only real low point. If I get it again, I would save the rice to eat with something else though.
