What's the Secret Password? Checking Out the Doritos Locos Taco Experience

Last Friday, Taco Bell was previewing the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco out in Venice Beach  and invited me to come check it out.

As a little bit of background, Taco Bell has promised the largest marketing campaign ever for the new taco and have thus far previewed the March 7 launch date with a series of speakeasy-type events, where fans had to speak a password to try the new taco.

Kellogg's new Buttery Toffee Rice Krispy Treats are basically your standard Rice Krispy Treats, but with a hit of buttery toffee flavor.

A 6.2-ounce box contains 8-individually-wrapped marshmallow "squares" (they're more like rectangles) and sell for around $3.79.

News: New Tostitos Artisan Recipes Grilled Red Pepper and Tomato Salsa Chips

Frito Lay is offering their line of Tostitos Artisan Recipes tortilla chips in a new flavor: Grilled Red Pepper and Tomato Salsa.

The new chips are purported to draw their inspiration from the "layered flavors of a rich Mexican mole sauce." Mole can be somewhat varied in Mexican cuisine, and in this case, Frito Lay's ingredients include ancho chile, smoked paprika, garlic, onion, roasted bell peppers, sundried tomato, and lime.

What a KFC Seafood Menu Might Look Like

KFC doesn't serve seafood here in the US (except occasionally in Hawaii, where they currently offer Fish and Chips for a limited time), but if they decided to introduce a Seafood Menu, here's some inspiration taken from what's currently available at some KFC locations around the world:

News: Hot Dog Pizza Parade Continues in the UK

Apparently, they really like their hot dog pizza over in the UK. Following Pizza Hut, Domino's UK has just recently released the new Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza. But Pizza Hut's not out of it yet, they've moved on to a new Hot Dog Pizza Bites Pizza.

While Pizza Hut's version came with mustard drizzled on top, Domino's Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza gives you the option of having the mustard inside the crust with the hot dogs.

Frozen Friday: Trader Joe's - Butter Chicken

Trader Joe's Butter Chicken is their take on the Indian dish featuring chicken in a tomato and butter sauce. It comes with basmati rice on the side.

$3.49 nets you a 12.5-ounce box.

News: Del Taco - New Beer Battered Fish Tacos

Del Taco introduces new Beer Battered Fish Tacos for seafood season (Lent) this year.

The new dish appears to replace Del Taco's Crispy Fish Taco and features hand-cut Alaskan pollock fillets in a crispy-fried beer batter crust. The fish is served in a corn tortilla and accompanied by shredded cabbage, salsa, and a creamy secret sauce. They're offered at 2 for $3.

News: Applebee's - New "Flavors of Bourbon Street" Menu

Applebee's offers the new "Jazzed Up Flavors of Bourbon Street" menu for a limited time. The New Orleans-inspired menu is anchored by two new dishes: Creamy Cajun Steak & Shrimp and the Shrimp Combo Platter.

Creamy Cajun Steak & Shrimp features a 7-ounce blackened sirloin steak, topped with seasoned shrimp, with fried red potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, peppers, and onions, plus a white wine Andouille sauce. My local Applebee's offers the entree for $15.99.

Review: Burger King - Bacon Gouda Breakfast Sandwich

Burger King's new, limited-time Bacon Gouda Breakfast Sandwich is a slight variation on the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich that adds Gouda cheese and an herb sauce into the combination. It's available on a croissant, English muffin, or biscuit. I went with the muffin.

My local Burger King prices these at $2.99 per sandwich (in fact, all their breakfast sandwiches, except for the value ones, are $2.99).

News: El Pollo Loco - New Chicken Mushroom Stuffed Quesadilla

El Pollo Loco returns their Stuffed Quesadillas for a limited time and introduces a new Chicken Mushroom version.

The Chicken Mushroom Stuffed Quesadilla features a twice-grilled flour tortilla folded into a hexagon around melted jack cheese, chopped citrus-marinated grilled chicken, sauteed mushrooms and onions, poblano cream sauce, and cilantro.
