The
Carl's Jr. in my area (southern California) recently started offering their
Western Bacon Cheeseburger 2 for $4 which gave me as good an excuse as any to buy two. The burger features a charbroiled beef patty, two bacon strips, American cheese, two crispy onion rings, and BBQ sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun.

As you can see, they went a bit crazy with the BBQ sauce. It was more than a bit much... I really didn't taste much besides BBQ sauce so it was really disappointing. They put BBQ sauce on top and below the patty...
The meat is supposed to be charbroiled but I didn't taste or see much char either. The onion rings were okay--soaked in BBQ sauce but they added a little bit of crispy texture. I couldn't really taste the bacon either as it's paper thin and it not all that smoky to begin with.

Carl's Jr's Western Bacon Cheeseburger was not so great on this occasion. I have rather fond memories of the burger from previous visits but maybe it was just the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia... either that or I just need to ask for the BBQ sauce on the side.

this burger frightens me...so pallid.
ReplyDeleteCalm down chief. I always have to add extra BBQ sauce to my Western Bacons when I get home. If you would like less sauce on yours, take a butter knife and scrape some off.
