Green Burrito Switches to Charbroiled Chicken and Steak

As part of a larger menu overhaul, dual-branded Green Burrito/Carl's Jr. restaurants are now charbroiling and hand-slicing their chicken and steak.

Crisp Burritos are back at Green Burrito-Carl's Jr. dual-branded restaurants. Basically Carl's Jr.'s version of a chimichanga, the burritos feature seasoned ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, and jalapenos rolled up in a flour tortilla and "crisped" to a golden brown.

Green Burrito, the Mexican chain dual-branded with select Carl's Jr. restaurants, offers new Grilled Flautas with Charbroiled Chicken.

The new dish features charbroiled chicken, spicy Santa Fe Sauce, and shredded Jack and cheddar cheeses rolled up in a flour torilla and grilled. Each order comes with a side of guacamole.

My local Carl's Jr. restaurant offers them for $4.29 each.

The burrito features charbroiled steak and the brand's natural-cut French fries rolled up in a flour tortilla along with guacamole, salsa, and shredded Jack and cheddar.

Review: Green Burrito - Charbroiled Chicken Torta

I popped by my localCarl's Jr./Green Burrito recently to try their new Charbroiled Chicken Torta. The torta is a kind of Mexican sandwich and the Green Burrito's version takes a soft Telera roll and fills it with pieces of charbroiled chicken, guacamole, hot sauce, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, and refried pinto beans.

The suggested retail is $3.29, but it's slightly more expensive near me at $3.59.

Carl's Jr./Green Burrito locations are now serving up new Charbroiled Chicken and Steak Torta Sandwiches.

The Charbroiled Tortas feature your choice of charbroiled chicken or steak, guacamole, pinto beans, shredded cheese, hot sauce, tomato, and shredded lettuce, served on a Mexican-style Telera roll.

The Charbroiled Chicken Torta is available by itself for $3.29 and the Charbroiled Steak Torta is priced at $3.89. The new Tortas are also available as combos with chips or fries and soft drinks. Prices may vary by location.

Review: Carl's Jr. - Big Country Breakfast Burrito

A "kitchen sink" breakfast burrito, Carl's Jr.'s Big Country Breakfast Burrito features sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, bacon bits, hash brown nuggets, and shredded jack and cheddar cheeses wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla.

It comes at $3.29 a pop at my local Carl's Jr.

Review: Green Burrito's Nachos

The Nachos at Green Burrito are pretty standard. They're good not great. You get a little bit of everything for roughly $6. It's a bigger size than Taco's largest nachos but it costs more as well.

It could use a bit more cheese though. You do get a fair amount of taco meat. Some refried beans, relatively fresh salsa, sour cream, a bit of guacamole, and in-house fried tortilla chips (as opposed to store bought). A bit on the hefty side for one, but great to share.

I wouldn't go out of the way to get it but if I was in the neighborhood and felt like eating some nachos, I might pick it up.

Review: Green Burrito - Beef Taco

I was always curious about the Green Burrito growing up but I never actually tried it and then the local Green Burrito closed. It wasn't until recently that I finally tried it when I walked into a Carl's Jr... Apparently, CKE Restaurants, Inc., the parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's , bought out the Green Burrito in 2001. Since then they have been co-branding them with Carl's Jr restaurants so that you can get American and Mexican Fast Food under the same roof much like Yum! Brands, Inc. does with Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut.
