2023 Lent Round-up

As usual, Lent ushers in a number of seafood-themed specials and/or deals around this time of year from a number of fast food chains. Here's a round-up of fast food menu items for Lent 2023:

Review: Panda Express - Wok-Seared Steak and Shrimp

Panda Express' Wok-Seared Steak and Shrimp features pieces of Angus top sirloin and shrimp stir-fried in a wok with a new Chinese-inspired steak sauce along with potatoes, red bell peppers, sugar snap peas, and yellow onions.

Review: Tender Greens - Herb Brushed Albacore Big Plate

Tender Greens' Big Plates come with a choice of six different proteins, one of six simple salads, and a side of Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, starting at $11.50. You can also get it as a sandwich with a simple salad, or as a full-sized salad with a garlic herb crostini.

Applebee's Cedar Salmon With Maple Mustard Glaze is one of the entrees in the chain's new Wood Fired Grill selection and features cedar-seasoned salmon, sauteed spinach, and maple mustard glaze.

A Look at Panda Express' New Innovation Kitchen

Panda Express recently opened a new "Innovation Kitchen" here in Southern California as a restaurant where they can test out new concepts and see how a different interior and exterior might work for the Chinese-American food chain. Since it's not too far away, I popped on by to take a look (and try some food of course).

Rally's $2 Shrimp Box features a small box of breaded, deep-fried shrimp and seasoned, battered fries.

Review: Burger King - Alaskan Fish Sandwich

Burger King's Alaskan Fish Sandwich features a filet of white Alaskan pollock breaded with panko (bread crumbs), and served with tartar sauce, pickles, and lettuce, on a toasted artisan-style bun

It's normally $3.39, but I picked one up as part of the current two for $5 deal.

News: Togo's - Lemon Pepper Tuna Returns

The Lemon Pepper Tuna sub is back at Togo's, because it's Lenten season of course.

The sandwich base features albacore tuna seasoned with lemon, and mixed with cracked black pepper, diced celery, and red onions.

Review: Wendy's - Premium Fish Fillet Sandwich

Wendy's Premium Fish Fillet Sandwich is their seasonal seafood offering around this time of year. It features a hand-cut fillet of North Pacific Cod, breaded in a deep-fried panko crumb coating along with lettuce and tartar sauce on a buttered and toasted bun.
