Review: Little Caesars - Italian Cheese Bread

My Favorite "Cheesesticks"

Little Caesars is a pizza chain that uses a different model than most of the major chains. Like Papa Murphy's, they generally don't deliver. Unlike Papa Murphy's, Little Caesars bakes the pizza for you.

Back in the day, Little Caesars M.O. was to sell its specials in pairs, dubbed something like the "Pizza! Pizza!" or "Pan! Pan!" specials for about the same price as one regular pizza. Nowadays, their "thing" is the Hot-N-Ready where in the Costco fashion, they offer a limited selection of large pizzas (your choice of cheese and/or pepperoni) for immediate carry out for only $5 dollars. It's a pretty good deal for the cash-strapped, the impulsive, and those impatient for pizza.

Having tried Papa John's lackluster Cheesesticks previously, I also tried Little Caesars' Italian Cheese Bread which is baked in a deep dish pan rather than the hand tossed pizza style of Papa John's Cheesesticks. They also cost about two dollars less in my neck of the woods ($3.99). On the down side, Little Caesars' Italian Cheese Bread doesn't come with any sauces although you can spring for some at 49 cents a pop.

The result of using a deep dish pan gives the Little Caesars' Italian Cheese Bread a bit more texture than Papa John's which is essentially a hand-tossed pizza with just cheese on top. The Italian Cheese Bread on the other hand has a bit of char and crust from where the dough contacts the pan during baking, it is also thicker and more bread-like. Finally, Little Caesars' Italian Cheese Bread is actually seasoned with spices and Parmesan cheese.

All of this makes for a much more enjoyable product at a lower price. And that is why Little Caesars is my current choice for cheesesticks.

  2. Nope! You have to pay for sauces. I just ate it with ranch dressing at home.

  3. That's weird, I've gotten this a couple times recently, and they gave me a cup of marinara sauce both times.

They had other sauces you could pay for, but I thought the marinara was alright.

  5. I work at Little Caesars and have to say the picture used to represent our Italian Cheese Bread is not a good choice. The product shown in this picture looks terrible and I would like to just say I would never serve this to a customer. There are three big problems with this stores product. 1. Used old crusty dough. 2. Over Cooked 3. Needs a little more Italian Seasoning & more Parmesan

  6. I love this italian cheese bread. I get it through Big K's Little Caesar where you can get a half order. It is rarely over done as in the picture. Get it with a Pepsi and I have my fix. Good stuff.

  7. No longer offered in it's large size (which was roughly the size of a large pizza).
