KFC Debuts New Smoky Mountain BBQ Fried Chicken

KFC debuts new Smoky Mountain BBQ fried chicken to join their Nashville Hot and Georgia Gold varieties to make up what they're now calling their "Taste of the South" line up.

The new flavor features a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce that they claim combines recipes from Memphis and the Carolinas, two known barbecue hotspots. Specifically the new sauce features "a touch of vinegar" for North Carolinians, a "little bit of sweetness" for the Kansas City crowd, and crispiness for Memphis dry rub fans.

Smoky Mountain BBQ arrives at KFC starting Monday, January 29, 2018 at participating locations nationwide. You can get it with Extra Crispy Tenders, Chicken Littles, and Extra Crispy bone-in fried chicken.

The suggested price for a combo with a choice of either three Extra Crispy Tenders or two pieces of Extra Crispy chicken plus a side and a biscuit is $4.99 (may vary).

Of the three "Taste of the South" options released so far, Smoky Mountain BBQ sounds like the most conventional of the bunch.
