Taco Bell's new Spicy Potato Soft Taco features crispy potato bites, shredded lettuce, chipotle sauce, and shredded cheddar cheese in a warm flour tortilla for $1.

It's pretty much a replacement for the Crispy Potato Soft Taco, but with a spicy chipotle sauce rather than pepper jack sauce.

News: White Castle Tests Veggie Sliders

White Castle is testing a vegetarian version of their famed Sliders. Spotted out in Edison, New Jersey by fellow Brand Eater, Kumar (no, not that Kumar), the new Veggie Slider comes simply with a veggie patty and avocado ranch sauce on a slider bun.

The price tag is 99 cents per slider.

The veggie patty is sourced from Dr. Praeger's, an all-natural, frozen food company based in New Jersey.

Frozen Friday: Lean Cuisine vs. Smart Ones - Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans

I decided to pit Lean Cuisine's and Smart Ones' Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans against one another to see which one came out on top. Lean Cuisine's version comes in a sour cream and mild green chile sauce and is topped with a bit of cheddar cheese. Smart Ones' version also comes with a sour cream and green chile sauce but is topped with mozzarella.

Review: Chipotle - Sofritas Bowl

Chipotle is offering/testing "Sofritas" as a vegetarian-friendly tofu option here in California. It's made with shredded Hodo Soy brand organic tofu braised with chipotle chilis, roasted poblanos, and spices.

It's $6.25 for a bowl at my local Chipotle and they'll build it however you like. I like to load it with fajita veggies (onions and bell peppers) and salsas, plus extra rice. It ends up being a pound or more, which is sometimes a whole day's worth of food for me.

Frozen Friday: Trader Joe's - Channa Masala

Trader Joe's Channa Masala is described as a "moderately spicy dish with chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans) at its center. The beans are sautéed with onions, tomatoes, peppers and exotic spices like cumin and fenugreek. It's a dish that’s wildly popular in the Punjab region of Northern India, as well as Gujarat in the West of the country."

You can think of it as a garbanzo bean curry. A 10-ounce box goes for $2.99.

Fresh & Easy's Channa Masala is part of their Eatwell line of foods, which have lower counts of fat, sodium, and calories. It's a vegetarian frozen meal that features garbanzo beans in a spicy curry served over rice with a mix of cauliflowers and spinach on the side.

Fresh & Easy has these for pretty cheap at $1.99 for a 9.25-ounce box.
