Frozen Friday: Healthy Choice - Pumpkin Squash Ravioli

An all-natural, vegetarian option for the health-minded frozen food types, Healthy Choice's Pumpkin Squash Ravioli frozen meal features pumpkin-filled ravioli with butter-sage sauce, asparagus and butternut squash.

I was a bit curious as to how the pumpkin ravioli would turn out in this one and found that they were just okay. There wasn't much pumpkin filling and the ravioli didn't cook well turning out a bit chewy and dry. The pumpkin flavor is pretty mild.
A lot of flavor comes from the butter-sage sauce which is a tasty buttery, herby sauce. The asparagus and butternut squash while slightly overcooked are also quite good and impart distinct flavors. The squash lends just a slight bit of cinnamon sweetness.
It might be wishful thinking but I think the addition of pine nuts would really set the dish off. Still, Healthy Choice's Pumpkin Squash Ravioli makes for an intriguing choice for your frozen meal eating and is worth trying. It obviously won't satiate your meat cravings but a little variety is good sometimes.

  1. I love this meal! Surprisingly, I like it especially for the raviloli's chewiness

  2. These are delicious.  I will get them any day they go on sale for cheap.  The macronutrients aren't to my liking (only 12% protein which is probably incomplete), but overall, its a keeper.

  3. You'll be ok with it being incomplete so long as you're eating the complimentary amino acids at some other point.
