News: Baskin-Robbins - Firehouse #31 - April 2011 Flavor of the Month

Baskin-Robbins featured flavor for April 2011 is Firehouse #31 in honor of fire fighters and is a blend of vanilla and red cinnamon ice cream mixed with red hot candy pieces and" a crunchy atomic fireball ribbon laced throughout."

Basically it's a blend of spicy, sweet and cold.

Firehouse #31 ice cream is available nationwide during the month of April by the scoop (in a cup or cone), in a sundae or in hand-packed pints, quarts and half-gallons.

Review: Taco Bell - Gordita Supreme

Before there was the Chalupa, there was the Gordita which is essentially a Taco Bell Taco except with a pillowy flatbread instead of a taco shell. The Gordita Supreme mirrors the Taco Supreme with seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, their typical three-cheese blend, sour cream, and shredded lettuce. They're also available with chicken or steak.

Price is 60 cents more than a Taco Supreme at $1.89.

Review: Burger King - BK Single Stacker

Burger King's new BK Single Stacker replaces the Buck Double on the BK Value Menu for $1. I guess a slice of bacon is cheaper than an extra beef patty. Each Stacker comes with a single beef patty, a slice of cheese, two half slices of bacon and BK Stacker sauce. BK Stackers are also available with a double or triple patty.

Review: Jack in the Box - Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger

When I typically think of a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, I typically think of Wendy's value-menu burger but Jack in the Box also serves a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. With the same name no less. It's a different burger though with bacon, American cheese, mayo-onion sauce, and ketchup.

Jack's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is also a value-menu item with a neat price tag of $1.

Review: Nong Shim - Onion Rings

Nong Shim is a Korean brand probably best known for making instant noodles but they also make snack foods including Onion Rings. Okay, much like Funyuns, technically they're onion-flavored rings. A 3.17-ounce bag usually costs any where from $1 to $1.50 in the Los Angeles area.

Frozen Friday: Totino's - Party Pizza

Totino's Party Pizza is the budget option for a quick frozen pizza. The most common varieties are Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, and Combination (Pepperoni and Sausage). I usually go for the Pepperoni (the classic) or the Combination (for variety) and picked them up on sale for around $1 (they retail for $1.99).

Review: Del Taco - Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit

Not too long ago, Del Taco started offering biscuit sandwiches as part of their breakfast offering. While I usually don't think of Del Taco for breakfast, I recently tried their Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit sandwich which is offered at a promotional price of two for $3.

Each biscuit features a freshly cooked egg omelet, American cheese and either savory sausage or crispy bacon on a buttermilk biscuit.

Review: Jack in the Box - Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Jack in the Box's Spicy Chicken Sandwich is very similar to the Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich and features a spicy, crispy filet, topped with lettuce, tomato, and their mayo-onion sauce on a sesame seed bun for $3.69 (compared to Wendy's $3.99).

News: El Pollo Loco - New Premium Sides

El Pollo Loco is gussying up their menu with three new Premium Sides: Flame-grilled Corn, Sweet Corn Cake, and Sweet Potato Fries.

The Flame-Grilled Corn features sweet fire-roasted corn off the cob seasoned with chipotle en adobo and a squeeze of lime.

The Sweet Corn Cake is a sweet melt-in-your-mouth corn cake with bits of corn baked in.

And the Sweet Potato Fries are lightly coated and prepared from seasonally harvested sweet potatoes.

The price is $1.79 for a small side and $3.99 for a large.

Review: Burger King - New Chicken Tenders

Burger King's new Chicken Tenders are pretty much your run-of-the-mill plain chicken nuggets. They replace BK's prior crown-shaped Chicken Tenders. They're available on BK's value at four pieces for $1. I picked up the 20-piece for $4.99 (saved a penny right?) which comes in a rather plain box. My local BK had the 8-piece going for $2.99 for some odd reason.

Review: Subway - Meatball Pepperoni Sub

Subway's currently featured $5 Dollar Footlong, the Meatball Pepperoni seems a bit of a random pairing  but I guess both meats are Italian in origin. I had mines built toasted on Italian bread with provolone cheese and a sprinkling of Parmesan, oregano, and black pepper. In case you missed it, the Meatball Pepperoni is $5 for a footlong sub.

News: Pizza Hut - New Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza

Pizza Hut's latest limited-time menu offering, the Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza adds meat to the normal cheese stuffed crust recipe resulting in an almost calzone-like crust.

There are two choices as far as which meats are in the crust: the Meaty Recipe comes with pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, and cheese; and the Pepperoni Recipe keeps it simple with just pepperoni and cheese.

The price on either version of the new Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza is $12.99 with up to three toppings.
