Review: Burger King - New Chicken Tenders

Burger King's new Chicken Tenders are pretty much your run-of-the-mill plain chicken nuggets. They replace BK's prior crown-shaped Chicken Tenders. They're available on BK's value at four pieces for $1. I picked up the 20-piece for $4.99 (saved a penny right?) which comes in a rather plain box. My local BK had the 8-piece going for $2.99 for some odd reason.

In terms of texture, the new Chicken Tenders slots somewhere between McDonald's Chicken McNuggets and Wendy's Chicken Nuggets. It's a mix of battered and breaded that remains crisp. Seasoning is plain and seems like just some salt thought you can see pepper in the crust.
The chicken skirted the line between juicy and dry; I think an extra millimeter or two of thickness would have swung it closer to juicy. They're just okay for me but that doesn't mean I can't stand there and absent-mindedly eat half the box.
Bottomline? They're not something I'd go to BK solely to get but I might get the new Chicken Tenders if I were at BK and in a nugget kind of mood but then again, I might just get the more interesting Spicy Chick'N Crisp for the same dollar. Overall, the new Chicken Tenders were just plain average which is actually an improvement over the old ones.

  1. I like them.  They're a little mushy but they still taste like chicken and they work well with dipping suaces.  I would wolf these down as fast as McDonald's Chicken McNuggets although McNuggets are a little better.  But these are good just not quite as great as their rivals.

  4. Don't let this review fool you, these new tenders are awful. Bring back the crowns!

  5. Seriously! They are gross. They taste like Tyson nuggets from the supermarket. Maybe worse.

  8. I just tried these today…what a massive disappointment. They reminded me of the dry, rubbery wafers they called chicken nuggets in my my old high school cafeteria.

Thankfully, I didn’t have to pay for these because I got a flyer in the mail for a free four-piece with no purchase required. The picture on the flyer looked just like the nuggets from McDonald’s and I love those, so I figured they would be worth a try...in reality, they look nothing like the photo. I guess I'll stick to McDonald's for nuggets.

Oh well, I still love BK's double cheeseburger and their fries. I just hope the introduction of these nuggets isn't an indication of a last ditch effort to save themselves if they are struggling.

  9. Was the worst food I've ever tasted. I got caught up in the hype. Just a carbon copy of McDonalds but worst. Burger king makes enough profit to create a superior product better than their rivals. It's mostly processed fat loath. The only thing white about it is the color. Total let down. BK, You can do better.

  11. I'm a little surprised at the overwhelming negative reactions, here and all over the net. I somewhat miss the old ones, but they were rather average to me too. I've had these new ones a few times, mostly due to the coupons, but to me they're decent. They're almost a combination of Burger King's old seasoning with McDonald's texture and style. McD's is definitely better, but they charge too much for a six piece. Hardee's/ Carl's Jr.'s tenders are obviously at another level, to the person who mentioned those.

I basically agree with the review... not something I'd go out of my way for, but they're decent nuggets if you're at BK and that's what you want.

  12. Completely disagree that they are an improvement over the crown nuggets. Those had an actual taste when you were eating them and didn't leave an awful aftertaste in your mouth.
