Review: Del Taco - Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit

Not too long ago, Del Taco started offering biscuit sandwiches as part of their breakfast offering. While I usually don't think of Del Taco for breakfast, I recently tried their Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit sandwich which is offered at a promotional price of two for $3.

Each biscuit features a freshly cooked egg omelet, American cheese and either savory sausage or crispy bacon on a buttermilk biscuit.

To start, the biscuit was a good size, had a good crust, and was very fluffy within. The bacon was thicker than the typical fast food paper-thin and is closer to what you cook at home. The egg and cheese were normal enough.
The biscuit was good, not super buttery but enough to satisfy. It was fluffy and moist and not too crumbly. However, it might have been a little too big for the rest of the ingredients. While there was more bacon than the typical breakfast sandwich, I didn't get as good a taste for it as I would have liked partially due to the large biscuit.

Other than that, Del Taco makes a surprisingly good biscuit sandwich, I just wish it had more bacon flavor. Perhaps the sausage version holds up better against the biscuit.

  1. How is it relative to McD's? The same?
