Review: McDonald's - Hazelnut Iced Coffee

I stopped in Kettleman City (central California) for gas while driving to Oakland and saw a sign for new iced coffees at McDonald's. They offered Regular, Vanilla, and Hazelnut flavors. $1.59 for a medium, $1.79 for a large.

Since it was coffee, I thought a medium would be 12 oz. or 16 oz., but it was a full 22 oz! That's a lot of coffee!  I'm guessing a large would be 32 oz...

I was further surprised when they handed me the drink because it was almost milky white with a just the slightest coffee tint to it... Slightly perturbed... I took a dubious sip... boooooooo... where's the coffee flavor?!  At best, it tasted like hazelnut, milk and sugar with maybe a tiny hint of coffee which is a no go for me.

Update (current as of 2/14/10) - Iced Coffees are now 8 ounces for a small, 11.5 ounces for a medium, and 17 ounces for a large.  Hurray for cost-cutting and moderation!

  1. It's funny on how prices can vary so much between stores! Our local McDonalds cost 1.89 for a regular.

  2. WSL: Yeah all the southern California locations are 1.89 for the regular. I'm guessing the cost of living is a bit less in the central valley.
