An off-the-menu or
"secret" item at
Chipotle, the
Quesadilla is huge! For
$2.75, I got a large flour tortilla (the same they use for their burritos) filled with cheese, wrapped in foil and pressed until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is seared. For
$2 more, I got steak in my quesadilla for a grand total of $4.75.
My server also asked me if I wanted anything else in my quesadilla, so I figured I should eat some vegetables and pointed to the fajita blend of sautéed peppers and onions. My quesadilla started to look more like a Mexican-style calzone rather than a flat quesadilla; so much so that my server had problems putting it back together and wrapping it up.
So how was my fajita-style quesadilla? Again, it was huge! Chipotle uses really big tortillas for their burritos and for the Quesadilla, one of them is just folded in half. I guess I got a lot of steak and fajita vegetables, because there wasn't enough cheese for it all. The bell peppers added a nice kick and crunch to the quesadilla while the steak was warm, tender, and well-seasoned with a Chipotle adobo sauce. Everything went well together and it was all very good.
At $4.75, my Steak Quesadilla compared very well to Chipotle's burritos which cost a buck more, ranging from $5.70 to $5.95.
I think it might be my go-to order at Chipotle from now on.
