Jack in the Box Tests New "Food Truck Series" Sandwiches

Jack in the Box is testing a trio of food truck-inspired sandwiches in at least a few locations near their headquarters in San Diego, CA.

The "Food Truck Series" includes the Philly Cheesesteak, Crunchy Chicken Banh Mi, and Super Bacon BLT and was spotted by Jay..

Following the food truck trend of offering more gourmet and specialty dishes, each of the sandwiches includes a fancier (for fast food) touch. The Philly Cheesesteak features prime rib steak, the Crunchy Chicken Banh Mi includes gochujang mayo (gochujang, a Korean chili sauce, seems poised as the next trendy sauce), and the Super Bacon BLT is headlined by "super bacon" AKA pork belly (an ingredient that Arby's has enjoyed some success with).

Beyond the feature ingredients, the Philly Cheesesteak also includes melted cheese, onions, and peppers. The Crunchy Chicken Banh Mi includes lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and crispy chicken strips, while the Super Bacon BLT includes mayo, leaf lettuce, and tomato.

It should be noted that while gochujang has Korean origins, a banh mi originates from Vietnam. The new menu items looks to be an attempt to fuse the two trending components.

The price for the new sandwiches is $4.99 a piece.
