Review: Boomerang - Beef Shepherd's Pie

Boomerang's Beef Shepherd's Pie features "all-natural beef and veggies with a mashed potato topping."

An 8-oz box was $3 on sale.

Boomerang's Beef Shepherd's Pie was one of the nicer looking ones I've seen recently. It appeared to have been pre-browned on top with a ridge texture to it.

The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy but a little gooey and tacky--like they had been overworked. Underneath the mashed potatoes was a layer of ground beef, corn, carrots, peas, and gravy.

The ground beef was a little grainy but the veggies turned out well as they were cooked through but still retained some texture and flavor. The gravy was thick and rich but also pretty plain--it could have used more seasoning.

Overall, Boomerang's Beef Shepherd's Pie was just okay for me. It looked nice and if I ate with my eyes, it would be great. Unfortunately, the feel of the mashed potatoes and beef was less than desirable and the general taste was a bit plain.
