A Look at Krispy Kreme's 2022 Fourth of July Donuts

Krispy Kreme offers a selection of four limited-time donuts to help celebrate the Fourth of July 2022. They include the Soaring Firework Heart Donut, Patriotic Cookies & Kreme Heart Donut, Stars & Stripes Heart Donut, and Star Spangled Sprinkle Donut.

The "I Heart America" dozen includes 3 of each donuts for $16.99 in my area but I received this courtesy of Krispy Kreme.

The flavors of the new donuts are pretty familiar with ingredients taken from the regular donuts. They went with heart-shaped donuts for three of the donuts as part of the theme.

The Soaring Firework Heart Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with Strawberries & Kreme, dipped in red icing, and decorated with a blue icing drizzle and white star sugar piece. It basically looks like a star whirling across a red sky. The strawberry creme filling is echoed slightly by the red icing.

The Patriotic Cookies & Kreme Heart Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with Cookies & Kreme, dipped in white icing, and topped with crushed chocolaty cookie crumbs as well as red and blue icing drizzles. It's basically a cookies and creme donut with some red and white icing squiggles to fit the holiday. I think they went with cookies and creme because they didn't have a blue filling handy.

The Stars & Stripes Heart Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with original Kreme, dipped in white icing, and decorated like a flag with a red icing drizzle and blue-and-gold star sprinkle blend. This one is meant to look somewhat like the US flag but offers the plainest flavor of the heart-shaped donuts.

The Star Spangled Sprinkle Donut features an Original Glazed donut dipped in blue icing and topped with red, white, and blue star sprinkles. It's the same donut offered on many a holiday occasion; they just swap out the icing color and sprinkle color and shape.

Of the four Fourth of July donuts, I enjoyed the Soaring Firework Heart Donut for its strawberry flavor (the look is not bad either).
