Review: Taco Bell - Beefy 5-Layer Burrito

The latest addition to Taco Bell's "Why Pay More" value menu, the Beefy 5-Layer Burrito features two flour tortillas with a layer of nacho cheese between them wrapping a filling of seasoned ground beef, grated cheddar cheese, sour cream, and refried beans. Basically, it's a quesadilla burrito.

The first thing I noticed about the Taco Bell Beefy 5-Layer Burrito was that it's quite sturdy due to having two flour tortillas instead of one. You don't have to worry about it falling apart on you while eating it.

It also had excellent heft and value for only 89 cents (The same price as a much smaller crunchy taco).  I took a picture of the burrito with a can of Coke for scale.

However, it was a bit too cheesy for me.  The nacho cheese sandwiched between the two tortillas tasted a lot like processed American cheese and overpowered the other ingredients so unless you really like American cheese this burrito is not for you.  I didn't taste the beef or beans as much as I would have liked due to the cheese.

As you can see, it's quite melty inside the Beefy 5-Layer Burrito.  It's also a bit messy to eat as the insides kept trying to make their way outside from the burrito's mouth.  This means you either dodge or it's going down your chin.

The Beefy 5-Layer Burrito while a good value, just isn't for me. My dad loves them however, and likes to buy several so he can save them for later.
