McDonald's Tests "Loaded" Bacon & Cheese Fries

Perhaps seeking an answer to Wendy's Baconator Fries, McDonald's has been spotted testing new, shareable Loaded Bacon & Cheese Basket of Fries.

The new fry menu item features the chain's signature French fries topped with cheddar cheese sauce and applewood-smoked bacon (the same stuff you find in their burgers and breakfast sandwiches). The price is $3.99 for an order (compared to $1.99 for an individual-size order of Baconator Fries).

Markets where the new fries have been spotted include participating restaurants in the Greater Pittsburgh area, Central West Virginia, Southeast Ohio, and Eastern Kentucky.

While fries topped with bacon and cheese are relatively new for McDonald's here at home, the chain currently serves them (and other varieties of topped fries) in a number of countries internationally, including nearby Mexico, where they were recently introduced.
