Three tenders cost me $5.49. Interestingly, three McDonald's McCrispy Strips cost $6.39 in my area, but four McCrispy Strips are $7.39, while four Wendy's Tenders are $7.49. It'll be interesting to see if Wendy's raises the price on three Tenders after the initial launch period.
I don't know if this is standard practice for the new Tenders or if it's just something my local Wendy's does, but I was told when ordering that it would take six minutes as the Tenders are cooked to order. I did go late at night, though.
As a result, my Chicken Tenders were piping hot. They were satisfyingly crispy on the surface with a moderate amount of blooming-type batter. Inside, they were juicy and tender with a meaty bite.
The size of the tenders seemed about average compared to other fast-food chains. There was some variance in the sizes: I got one piece that was flatter, shorter, and wider, while the other two were narrower but rounder and longer.
Flavor-wise, they were lightly seasoned with a nice savory quality to them.
Overall, Wendy's Chicken Tenders turned out pretty nice. While they don't stand out in the fast-food chicken tenders field, they make for a solid option.
I picked up three of the new sauces for dipping: Wendy's Signature, Scorchin' Hot, and Sweet Chili. The chain has also revamped its ranch, barbecue, and honey mustard sauces.
The Wendy's Signature Sauce is basically Wendy's version of Raising Cane's Cane Sauce. It was tangy, creamy, savory, and just a little peppery.
The Scorching' Hot was tangy and spicy over a mayo base with an interesting hint of cheese. It's Wendy's spiciest sauce with a moderate heat that builds as you continue to eat.
The Sweet Chili was mostly just sweet and slightly tangy with only the barest hint of heat.
Of the three new sauces, none of them blew me away, but I preferred the Signature Sauce and Scorching' Hot over the excessively sugary Sweet Chili. I would probably go with Honey Barbecue or Honey Mustard if I were getting chicken at Wendy's.
