Review: Wendy's - Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger

Wendy's Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger with double the beef, double the cheese, and double the bacon.

Beyond the beef, bacon, and cheese, the burger includes tomato, lettuce, and mayo on a toasted plain bun.

I picked one up in a $5 combo along with a 4-piece order of chicken nuggets, small fries, and small drink.

Compared to more careful balance of the original, the Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger offers a more indulgent, richer eating experience with the extra beef, cheese, and bacon. The beef was juicy and fairy thick, the cheese was thoroughly melted, and the bacon was crispy and wonderfully smoky.

The lettuce and tomato were fresh.

The choice of mayo rather than ketchup or mustard yield a more complementary, savory component rather than a contrasting tanginess.

The bun is probably my least favorite part of the burger. It's a little too soft and squishy and feels like it might fall apart on you.

Odd name aside (why not "Double Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger?"), Wendy's Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is an excellent rendition of a menu classic that gives you more of the good stuff (beef, bacon, and cheese) without marginalizing the other ingredients.
