Coca-Cola Gives You Your Own Soda Endorsement... in a Video Game

For anyone who's ever fantasized about getting their own Coca-Cola endorsement, the Coca-Cola Company gives you the opportunity to do so vicariously through a video game character in FIFA 18, a soccer simulation video game.

Marking the company's "first in-game advertising spot for use on external marketing platforms" (i.e. they plan to run it outside the video game as well), the game features a story mode where your character, Alex Hunter, is signed as a Coca-Cola brand ambassador to launch new Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.

The video spot that stars your character echoes the brand's "Mean Joe" television spot from 1979. Coca-Cola plans to feature the ad spot on social media as well as on their Time Square sign.
