Kellogg's New "Hi! Happy Inside" Cereal Offers Prebiotics, Probiotics, and Fiber

Citing that "92 percent of adult Americans rate maintaining digestive health as important to their overall health," Kellogg's launches new Hi! Happy Inside cereal aimed at delivering prebiotics, probiotics, and fiber for "digestive wellness support."

A serving of the new cereal is good for 1 billion CFU live probiotics, 2.5 grams of prebiotics, and 8 to 9 grams of fiber depending on the variety.

According to The Mayo Clinic, probiotics are "foods or supplements that contain live microorganisms intended to maintain or improve the "good" bacteria (normal microflora) in the body," while "prebiotics are foods (typically high-fiber foods) that act as food for human microflora." Basically, probiotics are meant to improve "good bacteria" and prebiotics feed the probiotics.

Hi! Happy Inside cereal features a mix of fruit, yogurty pieces, and whole grain cereal.

It comes in three flavors: Simply Strawberry, Bold Blueberry, and Coconut Crunch.

As far as brick-and-mortar stores go, you can currently find it at Costco and Boxed in 34.5-oz resealable bags for a suggested price of $12.99. Online, a pack of 6 cups sold at Amazon.com for $13.29. Additionally, in early 2019, individual cups of the new cereal (suggested price of $1.99 per cup) will launch nationwide at various retailers as well as online.
