Review: Tastykake - Mint-Flavored Kandy Kakes

Tastykake Mint-flavored Kandy Kakes feature mini chocolate cakes with a layer of mint-flavored filling covered in a dark chocolate-flavored coating.

You can find them for about $3.29 or so per 8-oz box but I received this courtesy of Tastykake.

I think they named these "Kandy Kakes" because they toe a fine line between cake and candy. The desserts are bite-sized with a good amount of chocolaty coating and mint-flavored filling compared to the small disc of chocolate inside.

There's a strong mint flavor to the green filling that may veer into the taste of toothpaste for some although the texture is thinner and light.

The chocolaty coating isn't waxy like some snack cakes and melts very easily. There's a nice bitter dark chocolate note to it that pairs well with the mint filling. The cake adds a milder chocolate flavor and the contrasting texture of cake.

Overall, Tastykake Mint-flavored Kandy Kakes remind me of a mini snack cake version of Andes mint chocolate, which makes them pretty good in my book.
