Review: Trader Joe's - Butter Toffee Pretzels

Trader Joe's Butter Toffee Pretzels feature mini salted pretzels tossed in butter toffee.

A 10-oz bag cost me $2.99.

I tend to think of butter toffee and something smooth and chewy or crunchy. Here, the toffee is craggy with a bit of a crystalline sugar structure to it. There's a light, flaky crunch that contrasts quite nicely with the sturdier crunch of the pretzels.

With a rough coat on each pretzel, these aren't terribly sweet but they have a wonderful buttery aroma and flavor. The sweet butteriness is met with a bite of salt and distinct pretzel taste. They struck a good balance between the varied flavors and textures here. It's neither too sweet nor salty.

Taken altogether, I really enjoy Trader Joe's Butter Toffee Pretzel and not only because I like butter toffee and pretzels. They really hit a sweet spot between the two with these.
