Review: Carl's Jr. - Bacon Truffle Angus Burger

Carl's Jr.'s Bacon Truffle Angus Burger features truffle-infused white cheddar sauce, a charbroiled Black Angus beef patty, two slice of applewood-smoked bacon, crispy onion strings, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and mayo on a toasted premium bun.

I bought one for $6.99.

While it's similar to a mushroom and Swiss burger, it's not as mushroom-y. Instead, there's a creamy and savory unctuousness from the truffle white cheddar sauce along with a mushroom undertone (but not much, if any, in the way of cheddar notes). Combined with the juicy, flavorful beef patty, it's quite rich and more than a little greasy.

Everything else served as an accent on the beef and sauce. The crispy onions added just a bit of crunch and, along with the caramelized onions, sweetness. The Swiss cheese built on the creaminess of the sauce, while the bacon, which was pretty weak even by fast food standards, contributed just a touch of smokiness.

The bun is denser than their regular bun and held together solidly from start to finish.

Carl's Jr. did a good job with the Bacon Truffle Angus Burger. While bacon remains a weak spot for the chain, the burger turned out very well otherwise. The truffle-infused white cheddar sauce was allowed to shine and worked nicely with the beef.
