The donut costs $2.29 near me but I received this courtesy of Krispy Kreme as part of a Pumpkin Spice Lover's Dozen, which also includes the Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Donut, the Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Donut, and Pumpkin Spice Cake Donut.
The Pumpkin Spice Donut offers the same airy, fluffy texture of Krispy Kreme's signature Original Glazed Donut but tinged with a bit of orange color and pumpkin spice flavor. Rather than dipped in a pumpkin spice/sugar blend, my particular donut seemed to be only covered in sugar with a sprinkle of pumpkin spice on top over the buttercream swirl. Beyond a fairly light sweetness, the sugar delivered the expected bits of crunch.
There was a swirl each of vanilla and coffee buttercreams. There was a nice, sweet creaminess to them as well as just a hint of vanilla and coffee flavors. Similarly, the pumpkin spice sprinkle added just an extra touch of pumpkin spice notes.
Overall, Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice Latte Swirl Donut turned out really well. I liked the balanced flavors, sweetness, and textures, although an extra dose of coffee flavor would make the "Latte" portion of the name more appropriate.
