Review: Pizza Hut - Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza

Pizza Hut's Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza features a hand-tossed crust embedded with 16 hand-rolled, cheese-stuffed garlic knots along its edge.

I bought one for $12.99. I went with pepperoni on one half and Italian sausage on the other half.

I'm going to go straight to the crust (you can check out my previous review of Pizza Hut's most recent version of hand-tossed pizza here). Rather than actual knots, Pizza Hut's new pizza comes with over-sized balls of crust (or under-sized dinner rolls depending on how you like to look at it).

They come brushed with the chain's Hut Favorite crust flavoring, which is a garlic buttery blend plus grated Parmesan and Italian herbs (oregano, parsley, and basil). The flavor was good for a decent note of garlic evenly paired with salty parmesan. The herbs didn't really come into play and the whole seasoning struggled a bit against the doughy "knot."

Each ball sported a heartier top with a softer, moister bottom where it was attached to the pizza. The top never quite crisped up to a crackly shell and was instead a bit tough and chewy. I preferred the bottom, where it was stretchy soft bread that delivered a more satisfying chew.

Inside, there was a rather disappointing nugget of cheese. The cheese was thoroughly melted and creamy but it seemed the same amount as is included in a Pizza Hut Cheesy Bite but surrounded by three- to four-times the amount of bread (the word "stuffed" might have been a bit of a stretch here). Basically, I enjoyed what little cheese was there but wished for more.

Overall, Pizza Hut's Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza was a disappointment on the Stuffed Garlic Knots front. A Stuffed Crust or Cheesy Bites Pizza with the same seasoning would have been much preferable.
