Review: Krispy Kreme - Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Donut

Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Donut takes the chain's signature Original Glazed Donut and adds some pumpkin spice flavor into the dough before frying.

They cost about a buck each but I received this courtesy of Krispy Kreme.

In appearance, these look almost the same as regular Original Glazed Donuts until you bite or tear into them to reveal a light brown, just slightly orange-tinge crumb (in contrast to the light yellow of the original).

The pumpkin spice flavor comes in pretty nicely here. The donut delivered a strong spiced flavor that had me thinking, "pumpkin pie."

The pumpkin spice combined with the cloud-like softness of an Original Glazed Donut and the delicate sweet glaze, make for quite fall treat. Like donuts in general but particularly with Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donuts, they're especially nice if you get fresh (you can also reheat them the day after for about 5 seconds in the microwave to reclaim part of that freshness).

I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin spice-flavored things (I prefer just going for the original of pumpkin pie) but I really like Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Donuts. It's a shame it's only available for one day a year and makes me wonder what other flavors would work with their signature donut (blueberry?!).
