Review: Popeyes - Spicy Chicken

Popeyes Spicy Leg and Thighs
Popeyes has had a nice little deal going on in my neck of the woods for a while now, where you can get a leg and a thigh for just 99 cents on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It used to be only on Tuesdays, but I guess with the economy in the crapper and people looking to stretch a buck, they expanded the deal to Thursdays as well.  I bought 10 leg and thigh pieces of Popeyes Spicy Chicken for about $5.

Popeyes' chicken is marinated in Louisiana seasonings, hand battered, and deep-fried in house. It's available in spicy or mild flavors.

The chicken I bought was recently fried, and crispy. It holds up pretty well the next day as well. Fried chicken, like pizza, is just one of those foods that make for great left-overs. The chicken was also nice and juicy; no surprise though, it is dark meat chicken. You have to try pretty hard to get dry dark meat, then again, the white meat chicken I've gotten at Popeyes has been pretty juicy as well.

Popeyes' Spicy Chicken had good flavor but it's much more subtle than KFC's Original Recipe. It's not overly spicy. Just a little spicy, I would say. But I guess that's what hot sauce is for. Regardless, you won't be reaching for the milk.
