Review: Jack in the Box - Triple Bacon Buttery Jack

Jack in the Box's Triple Bacon Buttery Jack features bacon butter, hickory-smoked bacon strips, and bacon mayo along with Jack's signature seasoned beef patty, grilled onion, and cheddar cheese on the chain's signature bun.

I picked one up for $5.39.

Bacon fans and those of the meat-and-cheese set will most likely find a lot to like here as the burger offers much in the way of bacon-y and meaty, cheesy goodness with few distractions.

As far as bacon goes, between the bacon mayo and the bacon strips, the beloved cured meat is well-represented in delectable fashion. The bacon mayo contributes a strong creamy note of bacon, while the strips add a crispiness and smoky, meaty quality. How does the bacon butter figure in? Given the strong bacon showing by the other two components, I couldn't be sure I was getting any more of it from the butter but it did punctuate the flavor with a rich fattiness.

The beef was pretty moist and the seasoning set off the beefiness well. The grind had a nice coarseness to it and the patty size was just right.

The onions complemented the beef nicely and retained a bit of that watery crispness. There was a sweetness as well. The bun also added some sweetness to go with a soft and spongy, but resilient, feel.

The cheese got a bit lost in the shuffle but was nicely melted for that desirable gooey texture.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Triple Bacon Buttery was very enjoyable and super bacon-y. The different forms of bacon actually gave some variation and depth to the overall bacon-iness. However, if you dislike the greasy mouth feel of bacon fat (there was a bit of it dripping around), this burger's probably not for you.
