Review: Krispy Kreme - Lemon Glaze Donut

Krispy Kreme's Lemon Glaze Donut is only available through April 29, 2018 and features a yeast ring donut covered in a lemon glaze.

It typically costs a little more than $1 but I received this one courtesy of Krispy Kreme. It's basically a lemon-flavored version of their signature Original Glazed donut.

The donut itself was fresh with a delicately soft and airy texture.

The glaze reminds me of the filling for lemon creme sandwich cookies. There's a strong citrusy lemon flavor that's fairly light in terms of tanginess (like they relied mainly on lemon zest rather than lemon juice).

At the end of the day, Krispy Kreme's Lemon Glazed Donut turned out fabulously well. The new lemon glaze didn't just offer a strong lemon note but also managed to feel slightly less sweet than an Original Glazed from the added flavor.
