The new foam stands in contrast to more traditional steamed foam in that it is frothed cold by blending nonfat milk until it's smooth, layered, and creamy. Beverages topped with the foam come with strawless lids so you can get a better feel for the texture as you drink.
The option is featured two drinks: the Cold Foam Cascara Cold Brew and Cold Foam Starbucks Blonde Iced Cappuccino.
The Cold Foam Blonde Iced Cappuccino consists of Blonde Espresso shots poured over ice and then splashed with nonfat milk and topped with cold foam.
The Cold Foam Cascara Cold Brew features cold-brewed coffee lightly sweetened with vanilla syrup and topped with cascara cold foam and a line of cascara topping (a combination of sugar and coffee cherry extract). A nitro version (cold-brewed coffee infused with nitrogen) is also available at some locations.
Cold foam first appeared at Starbucks at the opening of the Reserve Roastery in Seattle in December 2014 but had not been offered at regular Starbucks stores until now.
