Review: Starbucks - Apple Cider Donut

Starbucks' Apple Cider Donut features an old-fashioned donut made with apple cider, topped with vanilla icing and turbinado sanding sugar.

I paid $2.25 for one.

For the most part, the Apple Cider Donut tasted mostly like a typical old-fashioned donut touched with an uneven note of apple juice.

The icing was sweet with a thin crust to it while the underlying donut was soft throughout but a little dry in the very center. There wasn't much vanilla flavor to the icing but the sugar does give it an extra crunch factor.

Overall, Starbucks' Apple Cider Donut was nice enough in the way that most old-fashioned donuts are but it didn't encompass enough apple goodness to put me in the autumn mood. I would have liked more apple or even apple bits and maybe a little cinnamon.
