McDonald's Tests International Menu Items in South Florida

McDonald's is offering a number of international menu items as a limited-time test at 50 locations in South Florida.

They're calling it the "Flavors from Abroad" promotion and it includes the following:

- Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger (from Spain) - A fresh beef quarter pound burger patty, McBacon sauce, applewood-smoked bacon, Gouda cheese, and slivered onions, on a toasted sesame seed bun. Also available with double patties.

- BBQ McShaker Fries (from Malaysia) - French fries served with a smoky BBQ seasoning that you sprinkle on the fries and shake to coat.

- McSpicy Chicken (from Hong Kong) - A crispy chicken filet marinated with spicy seasonings, served with mayo and lettuce on a toasted sesame seed bun.

- Stroopwafel McFlurry (from the Netherlands)- Vanilla soft serve ice cream mixed with caramel waffle cookie pieces and caramel sauce.

While McDonald's has done a number of international-themed menu in other countries (such as the annual Great Tastes of America menu that is offered in the UK and an Indian-themed menu in Japan), they had largely avoided doing so here at home in the US. It should be interesting to see if these sell well enough to make it out of testing. If not, you can always try making a trip to the McDonald's restaurant at their new Chicago headquarters.
