A Look at Krispy Kreme's Chocolate Glazed Minis

Krispy Kreme's Chocolate Glazed Minis consists of four different mini donuts, including the Mini Chocolate Glazed Donut, Mini Chocolate Glazed Cake Batter Donut, Mini Chocolate Glazed Cookies & Kreme Donut, and the Mini Chocolate Glazed Peanut Butter Donut.

A 16-count box of them goes for $16.99 (about the same price as a dozen assorted donuts) in my area, but I received these courtesy of Krispy Kreme.

There's not much in the way of newness as the Mini Chocolate Glazed Donuts are just mini versions of the Chocolate Glazed Donuts that they occasionally offer, and the rest just add a Kreme to give them some extra flavor. The chocolate glaze itself is mildly chocolaty and mostly sweet. Texture-wise, it's smooth and forms a slight shell rather than a sticky or melty glaze.

The Mini Chocolate Glazed Cake Batter Donut is a Mini Chocolate Glazed Donut topped with rainbow confetti and a dollop of cake batter Kreme. Basically, you get a sweet crunch from the confetti and a bit of slightly custardy, vanilla cake batter flavor.

The Mini Chocolate Glazed Cookies & Kreme Donut comes topped with Cookies & Kreme filling and a sprinkle of cookie crumbles, which amounts to slight vanilla creme and chocolaty notes.

Finally, the Mini Chocolate Glazed Peanut Butter Donut is a mini Chocolate Glazed donut drizzled with peanut butter sauce and topped with a dollop of peanut butter Kreme. Of the four donuts, this one offers the strongest accents, as the peanut butter comes across quite well and forms a classic combination with the chocolate.

Insofar as my particular batch goes, the Minis were pretty dry. I'm not sure if they had been made a while ago or if the smaller size just dries out faster.
