A Valentine's Dozen goes for $16.99 in my area but I received these courtesy of Krispy Kreme.
Beyond how the donuts are decorated, there's not much in the way of newness here. The Beary Best Valentine's Donut is an unfilled yeast donut, while the other three donuts come with fairly familiar fillings: Strawberries & Kreme (Bee Mine Donut), Cookies & Kreme (Cookie to My Kreme Donut), and Cake Batter Kreme (My Batter Half Donut).
The Beary Best Valentine's Donut is a heart-shaped donut that are dipped in chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles and is supposed to look like a bear but doesn't quite hit the mark. I wondered what it was supposed look like for a bit before I located the eyes, which are black and just a shade darker than the dark brown chocolate sprinkles that cover the donut. The swirls of Chocolate Kreme that make up the bear's ears kind of remind me of ram's horns due to the swirls (although ram's horns aren't typically brown I don't think). Of the four donuts, you get quite a bit of crunch factor here due to even layer of sprinkles that more or less cover the chocolate icing of the donut.
The Bee Mine Donut features a heart-shaped donut with Strawberries & Kreme filling, dipped in red icing and decorated with pink icing and a bee sugar piece. As far as I can tell, the Strawberry & Kreme filling is the same as the Strawberry Kreme filling they normally offer. The icings aren't flavored so it's mostly sweetness and the creamy strawberry flavor that comes across. You get a little bit of extra sugar-cube-like texture from the bee sugar piece.
The Cookie to My Kreme Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with Cookies & Kreme, dipped in white icing, and decorated with a chocolate icing drizzle and a confetti heart sprinkle blend. Cookies & Kreme is something they regularly offer in the Oreo Cookies and Kreme donut but you do get some extra crunch from the sprinkles.
The My Batter Half Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with Cake Batter Kreme, dipped in pink icing, and decorated with heart sprinkles. Besides the shape and look, this is basically the same as their regular Cake Batter Donut.
For the most part, Krispy Kreme's 2022 Valentine's Day Donuts offer some new Valentine's Day looks with some regular menu flavors. They generally look pretty nice in a very conventional way although the bear donut doesn't work for me.
