The new menu item is being tested for a limited time at their Innovation Kitchen location in Pasadena, CA through April 14, 2022.
Panda Express' Orange Chicken Sandwich Bao features a crispy-fried chicken strip coated in Orange Chicken sauce served with pickles and sriracha aioli on a toasted sandwich bao.
A bao is generally a type of Chinese dumpling made of a steamed bun with a filling. The form of the Panda Express' Orange Chicken Sandwich Bao seems to borrow from a gua bao, which features a clamshell steamed bun filled with meat and condiments.
Panda Express previously tested another hand-held vehicle for their Orange Chicken last year at the same location. It was simply called the Orange Chicken Sandwich (and I tried it).
