Review: Entenmann's - Cookies & Creme Cake Truffles

Entenmann's Cookies & Creme Cake Truffles offer chocolate cake truffles with white chocolate chips, covered in a layer of chocolaty coating and a white chocolaty drizzle.

An 8-count, 9.1-oz box costs $6.89 but I received this courtesy of Entenmann's.

A cake truffle (or cake ball) is generally a mixture of cake and frosting shaped into a ball and then dipped in chocolate or, in this case a chocolaty coating.

The inside of the Cookies & Creme Cake Truffle offered a chocolaty flavor with the occasional creamy crunch from a white chocolate chip. Like a lot of "cookies & creme"-flavored things, it ends up tasting like "chocolate and cream" or "cream and chocolate". Here the leaning is towards the former as the creme here is fairly light and the drizzle didn't do much to help.

The texture of the cake truffle is dense, moist, and nougat-like. It's interesting as it has almost a candy-like feel to it.

The chocolaty coating covered the Cake Truffle completely which probably helped to keep it moist. It had that slightly waxen quality that I associate with chocolaty-covered snack cakes and donuts along with that distinct flavor to it.

When it comes down to it, Entenmann's Cookies & Creme Cake Truffles offer an elevated, richer chocolaty snack cake option. It delivered both a better taste and texture versus the regular packaged options but it also costs more. A white confectionary-type coating might have better conveyed the "cookies & creme" theme.
