McDonald's Tests Cold Brew Coffee in Southern California

McDonald's Cold Brew coffee poster outside.
McDonald's tests cold brew coffee at select locations for a limited time in Southern California.

During the test, McDonald's offers cold brew coffee in two varieties: regular Cold Brew and Marble Cold Brew.

McDonald's regular Cold Brew is just plain black cold brew coffee but can be customized with various flavors (French Vanilla, Caramel, Chocolate, and Hazelnut) as well as with cream and sugar.

The Marble Cold Brew features cold brew coffee swirled with light cream and creamy syrup (which is mostly sweetened condensed milk).

Prices vary but the regular Cold Brew costs $3.19 for a medium near me, while the Marble Cold Brew costs $3.59 for a medium (compared to $2.59 for a medium iced coffee).

The current Cold Brew test mirrors a test of the same product in the San Diego area back in 2018.

Cold brew coffee is made by slow-steeping (for hours or even a few days) coffee grounds in cold or room temperature water. The resultant coffee is generally smoother than brewed coffee with less bitterness. Cold brew is a popular coffee option that is already on the menu at national chains including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Chick-fil-A, and Wendy's.
