McDonald's Tests New Cold Brew Coffee in San Diego

McDonald's looks to expand their McCafe brewed coffee selection with a test of new Cold Brew Coffee at 74 restaurants in the San Diego market.

The company describes the cold-steeped brew as having a "strong, distinctively smooth taste." It's made with Arabica coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms in Guatemala.

McCafe Cold Brew Coffee can be ordered in the same manner as the chain's regular iced coffee (with cream and sugar, French vanilla syrup, caramel syrup, and/or hazelnut syrup). They're also testing the Marble Cold Brew, which features Cold Brew Coffee with sweet creamy syrup (a combination of condensed milk and various sugars) and swirls of light cream.

The move follows notable competitors including Starbucks, Dunkin', and Chick-fil-A, who all offer cold brew coffee.

McDonald's previously offered Frozen Cold Brew Coffee nationally earlier this year during the summer but it was pre-mixed so that you couldn't get cold brew coffee by itself.
