Review: Sunkissed Ritz Crackers

A box of Sunkissed Ritz Crackers.

Sunkissed Ritz Crackers are a limited-edition summer variety of Ritz crackers that feature the brand's original Ritz crackers "baked to a crisp with a nice tan."

A 13.7-oz box costs $3.88 at Walmart here in Los Angeles, but I received these courtesy of Ritz.

Sunkissed Ritz Crackers next to a quarter.

These tasted the same as regular Ritz crackers to me. They had the same flaky, crispy texture and the same savory, buttery, and slightly sweet taste. If there are differences, they're very subtle beyond the darker hue. You'd have to compare them side by side to pick out any definite differences (and I didn't have any regular Ritz handy).

I had my nephews and sister-in-law try them as well, and they mostly thought they tasted the same. After some deliberation, my sister-in-law thought they were drier than regular Ritz.

I thought maybe these would be more like Toasted Cheez-It crackers, which have had a deep toasty note to them, but Sunkissed Ritz Crackers just taste like regular Ritz to me. They might be worth getting if you want to compare the two, prefer a darker hue to your crackers, or like the aesthetic of the box.

For comparison's sake, here's the nutritional info for regular Ritz:

Judging by the info, Sunkissed Ritz should taste slightly sweeter and less salty. The ingredients are also somewhat different (the amounts differ a bit, and Sunkissed Ritz contain dextrose).
