Review: Taco Bell - Mike's Hot Honey Diablo Sauce

An order of Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Nuggets with Mike's Hot Honey Diablo Sauce.

Taco Bell's Mike's Hot Honey Diablo Sauce features a combination of "bold, smoky, and fiery" Diablo Sauce with Mike's Hot Honey for "a devilishly sharp heat that's pleasantly intense."

I got the sauce with a five-piece order of Crispy Chicken Nuggets for $4.69.

For the most part, Mike's Hot Honey Diablo Sauce is basically a spicy, sweet-and-sour sauce. That's actually notable as Taco Bell hasn't previously offered a sweet-and-sour sauce for its chicken nuggets.

The sticky sauce offers a medium heat that builds fairly quickly but levels out and fades in short order. In addition to the heat, there's a honeyed sweetness balanced out by the vinegary tang of hot sauce. It went well with the Crispy Chicken Nuggets (you can find my review of the nuggets here), which are bite-sized, whole-cut chicken pieces with the occasional, slightly jarring, hard crunch from tortilla chips in the breading.

Overall, Taco Bell's Mike's Hot Honey Diablo was enjoyable and added some welcome variety to the fast-food chain's dipping sauce selection.
