Preview / Review: Post - Poppin' Pebbles Cereal

Post is trying something new with their Fruity Pebbles brand of cereal by adding "poppin' pieces" to it and calling it "Poppin' Pebbles," which basically sounds like Fruity Pebbles plus Pop Rocks.

They won't be available in stores until January but I was sent a box to try them out.

News: El Pollo Loco - Limited-Time Shredded Beef Menu

El Pollo Loco is offering a new shredded beef menu for a limited time. The menu features a new shredded beef sandwich, taco, and quesadilla.

Shredded beef was first offered by the chain around this time last year with a similar menu. The beef is slow-simmered in a stew of tomatoes, onions, garlic, cumin, chipotle peppers, chiles, and Mexican oregano and shredded by hand to order.

Neat! Oreo Posts Snack Hack for Dipping Oreos Neatly

Oreo recently posted a pretty sweet way to dip and serve Oreos on their Facebook page and Vine. They call it "The Mini Dipper" and you can check it out below.

Basically, the idea is to use the plunger of a French press coffee maker as a platform to raise and lower your Oreo cookies into milk.

Review: Sonic - New Natural-Cut Fries

Sonic's new Natural-Cut Fries are skin-on French fries that replace their previous version. They're cut from whole, unpeeled russet potatoes and then blanched and dusted with starch before frozen and shipped out to Sonic locations.

A small order was $1, but I received this one courtesy of Sonic.

Around the World: Pizza Hut Singapore - Double Decker

They regaled us last year with the Double Sensation Pizza for the holidays and this Christmas, Pizza Hut Singapore looks to top that (literally) with new Double Decker Pizza.

As the name suggests, the Double Decker features a hand-tossed Stuffed Crust pizza with a smaller thin-crust pizza stacked on top of it.

News: Popeyes - New Cherry and Cream Cheese Pie

The "_ 'N Cream Cheese Pie" appears to be a regular thing at Popeyes recently. They've done strawberry and blackberry so far and the latest is the new Cherry 'N Cream Cheese Pie.

Like the name suggests, the bubbled and crispy deep-fried pie is filled with a cherry compote and cream cheese.

News: Starbucks Offers Brewed Coffee Refill Tumbler This Week

In case you're a brewed coffee drinker, Starbucks is offering the Coffee Refill Tumbler for $30 this week through Sunday, December 15. The tumbler is good for a free Grande (16-ounce) brewed coffee every day in January (a total of 31 days if you're willing to stop by every day).

Review: McDonald's - Bacon McDouble

McDonald's Bacon McDouble is, just like it sounds, a McDouble with a few strips of bacon. Specifically, it's two beef patties, a slice of American cheese, bacon, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard on a toasted bun.

I picked one up for $2 (71 cents more than the McDouble, which is now $1.29 in my area).

Around the World: Burger King Brazil Offers Extra Cheesy X-Whopper

Burger King offers an extra cheesy version of the chain's signature Whopper in Brazil called the "X-Whopper." It features a beef patty with bits of cheese mixed in a la the Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Burger. To go along with the beef and cheese patty are two slices of cheese, four slices of bacon, and a creamy cheese sauce (for the cheese and meat set).

News: Yoplait - Limited Edition Holiday Flavors

Yoplait is offering new, limited-time Yoplait Light Mocha Mint and Yoplait Original Peppermint Bark-flavored yogurt this holiday season. The flavors were selected by fan voting.

As far as nutrition goes, Mocha Mint contains 5g of protein and 90 calories per 6-ounce serving, while Peppermint Bark contains 170 calories and 5g of protein in the same 6-ounce serving.

Review: Starbucks - Cranberry Bliss Bar

Starbucks' Cranberry Bliss Bar is a holiday-seasonal dessert bar of blondie cake topped with cream cheese icing, dried cranberries, and white orange drizzle.

It was $2.45 for one triangular bar.

7-Eleven adds a new $1 Spicy Chicken Biscuit this winter since, apparently, people like spicy foods when it's cold out.

The $1 Spicy Chicken Biscuit feature a breaded chicken patty with "spicy spices" in a warm biscuit.

Around the World: Burger King Celebrates with Christmas Menus Across Europe

While it's not a thing here in the US, Burger King is celebrating Christmas this year with special holiday menus in a few countries across Europe including the UK, Spain, and Italy.

In Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, and  Italy, Burger King is celebrating with the Cheesemas menu, centered around, you guessed it, cheese.

Review: Sonic - Holiday Mint Molten Cake Sundae

Sonic's Holiday Mint Molten Cake Sundae is new this year and features a molten chocolate cake filled with hot fudge and covered with vanilla ice cream, more hot fudge, crushed holiday mints, whipped topping, and a maraschino cherry.

It goes for $4.49 at my nearest Sonic but I received this one courtesy of Sonic.

McAlister's Deli has upgraded and revamped some of their sandwiches with new recipes and increased portions in a line of upgraded and classic sandwiches they're calling the "Big Bold Sandwiches."

Sandwiches with increased portions are the Memphian and The New Yorker.

News: Jack in the Box - New Fajita Ranch Melt and Jalapeno BBQ Burger

Jack in the Box is offering two new, limited-time sandwiches to add a little kick to the holiday season, but only to specific regions. 

There's the new Fajita Ranch Melt, which can only be found at participating restaurants in California, Idaho, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.

Trader Joe's Speculoos Cookie & Cocoa Swirl Spread is new this year and similar to those peanut butter and jelly swirl spreads but with cookies and cocoa.

A 14.1-ounce was $3.99.

News: New Rold Gold Peanut Butter Dipped Pretzels for Holidays

Frito Lay makes a yearly offering of various dipped Rold Gold pretzels around the holiday season and this year, they've added new Rold Gold Peanut Butter Dipped Tiny Twists.

They're labeled as "peanut butter coated pretzels" but also "artificially flavored" so I guess it's some combination of the two.

Around the World: Lotteria - Cheeseburger with Large Cubes of Bacon

Japanese burger chain Lotteria takes an excellent approach to the traditional bacon cheeseburger by adding large cubes of bacon rather than strips. The rest is kept simple, but decidedly highbrow, with a black truffle cream sauce to accompany the otherwise standard cheeseburger.

They're calling it the "Cubed Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe."
