a failed attempt at introducing beef to their menu a few years back, El Pollo Loco is once again trying beef on their menu with new shredded beef tacos, bowls, and quesadillas.
The new shredded beef is slow-simmered (i.e. braised) for several hours and shredded by hand every day at each location.
Here's a closer look at the new shredded beef dishes:
The new Shredded Beef Tacos each consist of an artisan corn/wheat tortilla, shredded beef, chipotle cream, Romaine lettuce, shredded Jack cheese, and pico de gallo salsa.
The new Shredded Beef Bowls feature rice, pinto beans, Romaine lettuce, shredded beef, shredded Jack cheese, chipotle cream, pico de gallo salsa, flame-grilled corn, and cilantro.
Finally, the new Shredded Beef Stuffed Quesadilla takes shredded Jack cheese, shredded beef, chipotle cream, shredded cabbage, and avocado slices, and wraps them with a grilled flour tortilla folded into a hexagon.
The move is an interesting one considering the rising price of beef recently. Of course, chicken prices are also going up, but at a lower rate. Then again, the real question is whether the new shredded beef dishes are any good.
