Review: Taco Bell - Taco Party Pack

Taco Bell's Taco Party Pack
So it looks like Taco Bell has replaced its Grande Meal (10 tacos or bean burritos for $8.99 at my local Taco Bell, which only represents a cost saving if you select 10 bean burritos or soft tacos and actually costs a 9 cents more if you select 10 crunchy tacos) with the Taco Bell Party Pack which features 12 tacos for $10 in a sturdy cardboard box.

I went to Taco Bell to have lunch with a friend and take advantage of the Free Limeade Sparkler coupon.

So how did two guys end up ordering 12 tacos, a Crunchwrap Supreme, and four drinks?

Honestly, I was drawn to the sturdy box and the whole 12 tacos for an even $10 bit (I know, I'm a sucker for marketing gimmicks). As for the drinks, we really only got the Limeade Sparklers because they were free, I'm not very fond of them and my friend hadn't yet tried it at the time, but I warned him that they weren't very good.  So, we ended up buying two Frutista Freezes (in Strawberry and Classic Margarita!) as well because they are super good!
Inside Taco Bell's Taco Party Pack
It was actually pretty surprising how sturdy the box felt; while I wouldn't put say a set of weights inside, it feels like you could actually carry normal things inside it.

Mmm... the Crunchy Taco is probably one of my favorite things to eat at Taco Bell. It's simple, decidedly lowbrow, and tasty with a mix of textures. You get the crunchiness of the shell, the crispness of the lettuce, coarses bits of liberally seasoned ground beef, and shredded Cheddar cheese.

My hunger is actually satisfied by eating two tacos, but I usually eat three because that's what pictured in the combo on the menu (again, I am a sucker for marketing gimmicks).

While, I enjoy eating Crunchy Tacos, I'm pretty sure, the cheese comes out of a bag (like so many ingredients at Taco Bell it seems) and the beef is a bit on the liquid side. I note this because the juices will eventually soak through the taco shells if you wait too long before eating.

  1. About time Taco Bell went back to selling tacos in bulk. I remember buying 12 packs back in the early 90's, and was miffed when they stopped doing so.

Your right as well. Crunchy tacos must be ate within a few minutes, or they end up with soggy bottoms. I hate it when that happens.

  2. I have worked in many many restaurants and just about all cheddar, mozz and many other cheeses come from a 5lb bag. At the most recent restaurant I worked at only the swizz, provolone and gouda actually came in logs that had to be grated and that is the only place I have ever worked that did that.

  3. Mmmm...I love their tasty limeades! And of course the cheese comes out of a bag! Never seen a taco bell with a dairy factory in it! And while the meat will soak up a taco shell, it's what makes the meat so good, if not it would just be ground beef! Eating the XXL chalupa tonight with hard tacos :) p.o. Tacobell is too real for girly people to handle! Btw, all fast food comes out of bags and boxes.... O.o

  4. Sorry, what I meant to say is the the cheese comes out of a bag pre-shredded so it's a little drier than if they shredded it from a block.

And about Taco Bell food coming out of bags, I mention it because ingredients like the beef are seasoned and cooked off-site, vacuum-sealed, and then heated to regulation temperature onsite. I believe they fry the taco shells and chips onsite though. If doesn't make me like Taco Bell any less, but it's worth mentioning.

  5. Am I considered immature if I ended up playing with the box and ignoring the grub inside?

  6. I'll admit that I did play with the box for a bit before eating its contents.
