Hostess Orange CupCakes are orange flavored cake with a creamy filling finished with an orange frosting and trademark squiggles.
A 2-pack goes for around $1.59 at my local supermarket.
I have to say after the whole strawberry cupcake experience, I wasn't looking forward to trying these at all. But I was pleasantly surprised, the cake portion tasted like plain yellow cake with a lightly orange flavor to it ("orange oil" is listed among the ingredients). It wasn't as sticky as a Twinkie either but retains a reasonable amount of moistness
The frosting was fondant-like with orange flavoring as well.
The overall effect was pleasant and actually pretty good and much better than the strawberry version.

Lol I just wasted two minutes of my life trying to find your reply to that crazy obama/hilary whatever political response i saw a while ago. No luck. But at least there is this. I must spend less time here, but you and Obbop are too funny when I am drunk and exhausted.
ReplyDeleteAte these MANY years ago.
ReplyDeleteForgot they existed until seeing this review.
Not all that common way back when.
Wondering if the critters were withdrawn then re-instituted.
Maybe a "seasonal" item due to coloration and Halloween season use of orange.
they are so pretty, i want to eat them. but yo dawg, me and my husband love these, it's the perfect cake batter, i camp outside of walmart for weeks so I can get them before they sell out
