McDonald's McPick 2 for $5 Returns Nationally

McDonald's is bringing back the McPick 2 for $5 as a nationwide promotion (although for some of you the promotion never went away).

Included in the core selection are the Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, and 10-piece Chicken McNuggets with the Quarter Pounder with Cheese notably absent this time around. Your local McDonald's may also include other items at its own discretion (including the Quarter Pounder with Cheese).

The national McPick 2 for $5 kicks off Monday, May 23, 2016 and I'm told the chain intends the McPick 2 platform to be its "official" value vehicle moving forward. It will "evolve throughout the year with new choices and premium menu items."

Local markets are also able to select their own menu items and price point for a more local-specific McPick 2 menu option. Current examples include various breakfast McPick 2 offers, the inclusion of the regional Southern-Style Chicken Sandwich, large fries, and Homestyle Burger in parts of Texas, and a McPick 2 for $2.50 in the Tri-state NY area that is a slightly more expensive version of the previously offered McPick 2 for $2.

The deal compares favorably and competes well with Burger King's long-running two for $5 Mix-N-Match deal.
