IHOP Griddles New "Gluten-Friendly" Pancakes

IHOP introduces new "gluten-friendly" (i.e. not quite gluten-free) buttermilk pancakes and waffles as part of a new gluten-friendly menu. They've also added gluten-friendly Ultimate Steakburgers.

The new menu is meant to cater to customers looking to cut down or avoid gluten (they cite NPD Group research showing that three in ten consumer are looking to do so) rather than any that are allergic or intolerant (the items are prepared in the same kitchen space and equipment as the rest of their menu).

According to the chain, the new gluten-friendly pancakes are made with rice flour and are meant to "give guests the same great pancake experience without compromising on taste or fluffiness." The same batter is used to make gluten-friendly waffles.

The gluten-friendly version of the chain's Ultimate Steakburgers include a bun made with rice flour and other gluten-friendly ingredients.
