Review: McDonald's - Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders

McDonald's Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders feature the chain's Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Tenders tossed in a spicy BBQ glaze.

A 4-piece order cost me $4.49 (a 50-cents premium over their regular tenders).

My tenders came almost drenched in the spicy BBQ glaze (they gave me a knife and fork with my order). It was more of a sauce than a glaze as it didn't seem different in consistency than any of the sauces that they offer in sealed cups. Still, the underlying tenders were crispy (although I did eat at the restaurant so it would be fairly sad if they weren't). The meat inside was a bit dry though.

Besides looking like they took a dunk in a vat of sauce, the sauce itself was very tangy with a medium heat, some sweetness, and a light touch of smoke. It was too tangy for me and overpowered the chicken.

At the end of the day, I would have preferred McDonald's Spicy BBQ Chicken Tenders without the sauce, which also would have cost 50 cents less. Last year's Sweet N' Spicy Honey BBQ Glazed Tenders offered a more balanced flavor and were much better for it. Their regular BBQ sauce would have also been better.
